Group Fitness Classes Only at The Jen Murphy Fitness Studio

The group class experience at Jen Murphy Fitness, while specifically designed to move you toward your fitness goals, are also meant to rejuvenate you, and make you smile.  Because if it’s not fun, you’re not going to be doing it very long.  Classes are offered seven-days per week, and for all levels.  Group classes are held in main studio, while Spinning and Yoga each have their own space.

Group Classes

Barre

Barre incorporates every muscle in the body by employing a combination of functional-strength, dance, pilates and yoga. Light weights, balls and resistance bands are used to enhance strength, balance, core and posture. Exercises are performed both standing and on the mat. Barre is a great class for beginners, as well as those looking to strengthen their core, and sculpt a long, lean body.

Circuit Training

Circuit Training consist of ten different easy, yet effective, cardiovascular and resistance moves that are executed for 45 seconds in each of three rounds. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own fitness level, completing as many repetitions as they can in the 45 seconds allotted. The combination of cardiovascular and weight-bearing movements drives up endurance and works all muscle groups.

Dance Fit

Easy to follow dance moves combined with a mix of today’s and yesterday’s music hits.  This calorie scorching class will leave you feeling light and energized! I dare you not to smile. No dance experience is required and beginners are always welcome.

Fab Abs

Thirty minutes is all it takes to work the most important part of the body – the core.  
Mostly done on the mat, this class works every inch of the abs using balls, weights and planks.  
A perfect addition to any workout routine.

Kickboxing

Kickboxing utilizes basic boxing and kickboxing moves in class environment. Participants will burn loads of calories, while reshaping their arms, legs, glutes and abdominals, working with the bag, as well as paddles. Kickboxing is also a great workout to encourage muscle confusion if you’re taking other classes. Come prepared to sweat, and to have a blast.

Jazzercise

This fun dance workout mixes easy to master modern moves with energizing top 40 music. Strength training is incorporated to enhance your calorie burn and work all the muscle groups.  All levels are more than welcome. No dance experience necessary. A great class for beginners looking for a great cardio workout.

Piloxing

Piloxing mixes the sculpting and flexibility of Pilates, and the power, speed, and agility of boxing into a fat-torching, muscle-sculpting, core-centric interval workout. Lightly weighted gloves are worn to enhance the workout by toning the arms and maximizing the cardiovascular aspects of the class, and are available for purchase at The Studio with no markup.

Piyo

PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. And, we crank up the speed to deliver a true fat-burning, low-impact workout that leaves your body looking long, lean, and incredibly defined. This is a great mat-oriented class for those looking to increase strength, flexibility, and tone-up fast.

Step-Circuit

Step Circuit class powers into cardio-oriented step segments that will get your heart pumping and shift your body into its fat-burning zone. Then it’s on to strengthen, sculpt and tone every muscle group. Abs at the end finish off this total body workout. If you want strong legs, and a functionally-fit core, this is the class for you.

TRX

TRX is a circuit class that uses suspension training exercises for strength, balance, flexibility and core stability.   Using the TRX strap and one’s own body weight to perform cardio, strength and stability moves that work the entire body in 30 minutes. No experience necessary, TRX is perfect for all fitness levels.

Weights

Weights class works your muscles in every way possible. This class is designed to build strength, add definition and increase bone-density. Weights class also focuses on decreasing your body fat by increasing your lean muscle. Dumbbells, ankle weights, tubing and gravity are all leveraged, and no muscle gets neglected in this total-body-workout.

Zumba

Zumba is the combination of exercise, entertainment, and culture, married into an exhilarating dance sensation. Classes are “fitness dance parties” that blend upbeat world rhythms with easy to follow choreography for a total body workout that can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour.

Spinning Classes

Spinning

Spin is a fun, cardio-oriented class where you will get your sweat on, and quickly burn calories–all while having a blast. Our state-of-the-art enclosed spin room boasts twelve bikes and a Sonos sound system. Open to all fitness levels, emphasis is placed on energizing warm-ups, builds, hill climbs, and pursuits, each designed to move you through various stages of your heart rate zones.

Beginner Spin

A 30 minute class for “never before” or “just starting out” spinners.  Great music, easy rides and sometimes singing are what this spin class is all about.  Hills for those who want them and flats for those who don’t. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own level.  First time? Come 10 minutes early to get fitted for your bike.

Yoga

Open Yoga

Open yoga classes are designed for both beginners, as well as the seasoned yogi. Intructors offer a variety of options for each pose allowing individuals to move within the range of motion that best suits their bodies and abilities.  A comfortable flow of postures throughout each session allows each participant the opportunity to bring their practice to unexpected places, mentally and physically.  All are welcome.

Chair Yoga

Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is practiced sitting on a chair or standing, while  using a chair for support.  Breathing techniques and relaxation methods are incorporated into the class, as well as humor! Great for people recovering from injury, seniors, or anyone that wishes to get some movement back into their life

Men's Yoga*

Yoga for Men is designed to introduce men of all fitness levels to the benefits of yoga. Focus is placed on building strength, improving flexibility and reducing stress. Postures that create ease, and relieve tension in areas of the body that men find most challenging: the back, hips, hamstrings and shoulders are practiced. Breath-work, meditation and relaxation techniques are also integrated throughout the class.

Stretch and Flow

Stretch and Flow Yoga is a slower-paced class that focuses on larger muscle groups. Throughout the session the instructor guides the practitioner into poses that are typically held longer, in order to enhance alignment and work the connective tissue. Emphasis is placed on foundational poses, transitions and proper breathing. This is a great class for those without any yoga experience.

Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa Flow class is a form of Hatha yoga that combines breath with faster-tempo asana poses. This class focuses on the creation of movement and motion, while simultaneously incorporating a deep, meditative awakening. Some yoga experience is suggested for this class.

Yin Yoga

Feel relaxed, light and free. Yin Yoga postures target deep tissue to enhance range of motion and flexibility, while relieving pain the the low back, hips, and spine. Rooted in yoga therapy and meridian energy medicine, these supported floor postures allow gravity to rehabilitate connective tissues.  No yoga experience necessary. Everyone welcome.

Senior Fitness

Silver Sneakers

The SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is a fun, social exercise and wellness program helping older adults live healthy, active lifestyles. During class, you will move to the music with exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, tubing and exercise balls are offered for resistance. A chair is always available if needed for seated or standing support.

Zumba Silver

Everything you love about Zumba: the music, the easy to follow dance moves, the camaraderie, but at calmer, joint-friendly, pace, tailored for seniors, or those looking to get back on the dance floor. This 45 minute class includes a long warm-up, heart-friendly, self-paced dance moves, and a standing cool down, that will leave you refreshed, not exhausted.
