Janie Vandertoorn, 16 I was never interested in sports which, as a teenager, I thought was the only form of exercise out there, but when I started taking classes with Jen, I realized exercise can be fun. Lisa Orneck, 26 Jennifer Murphy is a miracle worker. She is so inspiring by giving me hope that anything is possible. When I went to my first class with Jen, she could tell that I was having a hard time keeping up. She kept saying that you can do it, keep your mind focused, over power your mind and that we were almost finished. Now, I look forward to class and I hate that the hour is almost up. We all have so much fun in her classes that you don't feel like you are working out. I feel more energized, confident and less stressed. I recommend all of her classes to EVERYONE no matter what size or age. When I went to her first class I weighed 177 pounds. Now 3 months later I am 146 pounds. I have lost 7 inches off of my waist and 5 inches off of my hips. None of my clothes fit me anymore. Jen gave me some tips on how to eat healthy and to make sure I ATE BREAKFAST. *********************************************************************** Losing weight is truly a test of your will to increase the vitality of your life. You can be overweight and happy, it is possible, but there comes a time where your health and well being will certainly reflect your ability to be comfortable in your own skin. I used to hide behind food, not go out to eat with friends because I'd be embarrassed to eat or not eat in front of them, always feeling judged no matter what. Also shopping was always a nightmare. Losing weight is a life changing process that, no matter how slow and emotional, can only be beneficial to your body, mind, and spirit. I weighed almost 225 lbs before I could even order a drink at the bar! I just had my 24th birthday and I'm 70 lbs away from that sad number in the right direction. No one can make you do it, actually hearing any suggestions or people offering assistance to 'help lose weight' would only anger me and distract me from really trying to do something good for myself. It's my own baggage that in some way, I found comforting to have. One day I looked at the scale, and I thought, this is unbelievable. How did I get the scale to say that? Is that even right? I really remember thinking that I had gotten WAY too large too quickly, and I had to get it under control before food and laziness took control of me. I started exercising regularly in October, 2008 (giving myself 1 year to prepare for my brothers wedding) and met Jen around April 2009. Good thing I had been warming up my joints and preparing myself, because Jen kicked my butt! She kicked the excess right off; after the first class, I felt alive and happier and proud of myself for being in a room of 'skinny' women and surviving. I had to keep going back in order to prove to myself that I was making not just a temporary change, to prepare for some silly wedding, but an entire lifestyle change. I felt and looked great for the wedding, but I'm still not done with my body. After some private training sessions I realized I had the ability to work out on my own, and to learn what exercises really affected me and what I needed to do to continue to lose inches. After the first few classes, I really would look forward to going, and felt very guilty for missing any. I'd felt a difference in my pants and just 'lighter' overall. Less physical baggage is absolutely linked to less mental baggage; one less thing for us women to worry about. Jen's positive attitude and sunny disposition no matter what may have been going on in her world was always very refreshing and enlivening through each and every class. You could always rely on her to kick your bad mood and extra calories right out the door. I'm very grateful for finding her and going to her classes. I highly recommend her to people in ALL stages of weight loss and I promise you have NOTHING to lose except inches, pounds, and unhealthy habits. Thanks Jen! You are a good soul. When I first started, truthfully it was just to have some alone time. I have a teenager, two little ones, and run a business. I wasn't doing anything for myself. However, it quickly turned into something more! I had more energy, started toning and felt great!
